Update
So I am emerging from a one month delve into openldap and what it can do for me, well really the company I work for. We are already using it but want to expand it out a bit. If you aren’t using LDAP at all one really cool infrastructure tool I have found is Gosa it is really one of the coolest infrastructure applications I have ever seen. If you work with the Debian Project then this is really the only stop you need to make. Gosa allows you to manage users/groups/printers hell you can even manage unattended installs of Debian on your network. System management is also really impressive, if you are looking for an infrastructure tool, check it out!

There are a few good resources for mysql administrators. First off, the mysql documentation is the first place to check, I use it daily. You can search it at http://www.mysql.com/. Secondly I recommend MySQL (4th Edition) (Developer’s Library) by Paul DuBois ISBN 0672329387. I dunno who this guy is but he has taught me everything I know about mysql over the years by reading his books.
Good Luck!
